tired

Awake to birds discussing land Polite as a blender fed on a tin Their songs burn through the curtains And sleep isn't happening A barrel of thoughts that rattle like serpents Poisoning the head that they're in Bite first with no explanation And sleep isn't happening Please I need some rest, the rest can wait Please I need some sleep to keep the wolf satisfied Pay it off in kindness Pay it off in time Pay off the creature that destroys by resting my mind At least it's a step I'll work on the rest But I'm so tired The sun seems set on torching the sky Determined on burning the day before the dawn rolls in It's like it's starving for cold And sleep isn't happening I did some good yesterday Why can't I see it that way? At least it's a step I'll work on the rest But I'm so tired I did some good yesterday I hope I see it someday I did some good yesterday I hope I see it soon
