UNEO (OST) - out now
UNEO - a short sci-fi film I wrote the music for - has now had its world premiere at Chapter Arts, Cardiff as part of its regular short film event Chapter Moviemaker.
The soundtrack looks to use rhythm to show the clarity of our character's perspectives - the more rhythmically free, the less sure the characters are of what is real. The most rhythmically defined sections speak to fear, reflecting an animalistic focus on survival at all costs.
Sonically, there are a lot of synths - specifically Arturia's Augmented Woodwind and Pianos. I've spent the year working with acoustic, 'real', instruments, so for a film nodding toward the uncanny valley, taking instruments that had their roots in reality but were growing towards an artificial light made the most sense to me.
